KNOW THESE THREE SACRED SYMBOLS OF SHAMANISM

In shamanic cosmology, sacred symbols have  great relevance since they mean the soul of things. Both the hunting tools, as well as the outfits, crafts, objects, images and staging for their ceremonies, constitute their representative importance as ancestral knowledge that has remained from generation to generation for thousands of years.

Next we are going to know three symbols that characterize them:

NUIT MASKS

In the Eskimo shamanistic communities typical of the arctic regions of North America, Inuit masks represent the original link with the other-world. It is said that these masks were charged with the power of the shaman who had made or provoked them and displayed their work.

( AYAHUASCA: THE BEST KEPT TREASURE OF THE AMAZON ).

Thanks to the strength of his art and his power of fascination, the Inuit shaman could connect with beings from the other dimension, showing courage in the face of a world populated by monsters and chimeras. They also allowed them to establish links with human beings, gave them faith and helped them move towards their own ecstatic journey.

MEDICINE WHEELS

These are large stone circles crossed by axes that lead in the direction of the four cardinal points. In shamanic wisdom they are sacred representations that are used for different purposes: from the construction of temples, for calendrical calculations or as instruments of ecstatic trance or meditation.

( RAPÉ AND AYAHUASCA: HOW ARE THEY DIFFERENT? )

This is because the circle symbolizes change, manifestation, concentric travel, and space-time transit. Therefore, the medicine wheel represents the cosmic order, the eternal pattern of life and death, the path of the sun and the moon, the design of the tipi (circular dwelling) and the shape of the drum.

CHAKAPA

Quechua word to name a shaker or rattle. This instrument is made of leaves tied in the shape of a fan, and is used by Amazon shamans for healing rites and ceremonies. The sound of the Chakapa is said to comfort participants as they make their ecstatic and visionary journey, as well as cleanse their energy. and purify the environment, so the shamans use their various Chakapa movements for the different purposes they need to activate.
